Commissioning Graphic with Text

To celebrate the centennial anniversary of Igor Stravinsky & C.F. Ramuz’s L’Histoire du soldat, Après L’Histoire is commissioning two new works for septet plus narrator through a competitive call-for-proposals process. Stravinsky and Ramuz’s composition, which warns of unchecked ambition and materialism amidst a global topography of musical styles, has not diminished whatsoever in relevance. By commissioning new works to pair with L’Histoire du soldat, Après L’Histoire seeks to breathe new life into Stravinsky’s classic work by expanding the repertoire and creating opportunities for living composers and authors to reflect in kind. The winners of the project, who will compose works to be premiered in 2019, are composers Sarah Westwood and Manel Ribera Torres.
